Safety is top of my priority list when car shopping, followed closely by car seat compatibility and room for sports gear. Automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane assist, speed limit projection on the windshield, and child lock features are just the beginning of the safety tools provided in the Volvo XC90. An added bonus is the seat belt alarm to notify the driver which passenger is not buckled in. This definitely came in handy to eliminate the “It’s her!” “It’s not me, it’s him!” fighting in the back seat to stop the alarm.
My kids loved the “stadium seating” between the second and third rows as well as all of the natural light provided by the huge windows and double moonroof. I was surprised at how easy it was for my crew to get in and out of the car, even with a car seat and booster seat in the captain’s chairs. My daughter had fun playing musical chairs with all of the places she could fit her booster seat!
My husband and kids loved the touch-sensor control for the moonroof, as well as all of the cupholders and the level of individual temperature control for each passenger. We happened to test drive the Volvo XC90 on a cold, rainy weekend, and my favorite feature was the heated steering wheel!
The backup camera is clear and wide-angled, which helped me avoid my pups, who love to run behind cars when backing up. The Volvo XC90 features parking sensors, which are great for those who prefer to park when no one is watching. The interior is unmatched, with comfortable soft leather seating, gorgeous wood paneling, and understated design elements.
The adjustable seats go beyond moving forward and backward and up and down. You can decide how wide or narrow the lumbar support should be, the upper back support, and the amount of support and pressure provided for both the driver and passenger seats!
