Recently there have been a few signs that spring is on the way, and it couldn’t come quicker. Spring may be the best season to participate in a local area road race, with proceeds benefiting charity. Lace up your shoes and have some fun at one of our area road races. Happy spring running!
April 2 – Wilton
Race Ahead for Safe Driving is a 5k sponsored by Wilton High School and the Wilton Police Department to promote safe driving. All proceeds will be donated to local officer Ackerman who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
April 16 – Fairfield
The Beach Bunny 5K is a timed 5K run, and untimed 1-mile family fun run. The event will feature food trucks, family fun, and the annual egg scramble. The race starts at Jennings Beach in Fairfield and will be a fun-filled day for all.
April 30 – Westport
Minute Man Race is hosted by The Westport Women’s League. This year’s annual 10k run, 5k run, and 5K walk will be at Compo Beach. The Kids’ Fun Run will include a 50-yard dash (ages 3-5), a 100-yard dash (ages 6-7), 1/2 mile (ages 8-9), 1 mile (ages 10-12) featuring a Kids’ Zone during and after the race. All proceeds are to benefit various local charities.
May 1 – Greenwich
Breast Cancer Alliance 5k and Wellness Weekend is a 5K run/walk for the hope that will honor loved ones who have faced breast cancer. All proceeds will go to the BCA. Other wellness weekend activities are offered, including a wellness weekend class.
May 1 – Wilton
Circle of Care 5K is the second annual 5k in Wilton to honor local children with cancer. All funds benefit the Circle of Care’s organization and programs for children with cancer in CT. Come support this terrific local cause and charity.
May 1 – Redding
Mark Twain Redding Road Race half marathon and the seven-mile race begins at the Hoyt Campground in West Redding. The Flying Frog Frenzy half-mile kids’ fun run starts 30 minutes prior. Every runner receives an in-house designed finishers medal. The proceeds go to benefit numerous local charities.
May 8 – Ridgefield
Run Like a Mother 5K and Kids’ 1 mile starts at the Ridgefield Playhouse and ends at Ballard Park. The race ends with refreshments in the family celebration area. You must pre-register for this event (no day of registration will be offered). The race supports the Ridgefield Library’s Noreen L. Papa “Mothers: Live Your Life” fund, supporting library programs dedicated to women’s health and wellness.
May 19 – Stamford
Stamford Boys & Girls Club Corporate 5K event will host a virtual and in-person race option. This is a flat 5K, and all participants receive a t-shirt. A celebration follows the race at The Village. Proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Stamford.
May 22 – Danbury
Regional Hospice Color Fest is hosted at Tarrywile Park and Mansion. The 5K color run will raise funds for children’s hospice programming.
