A couple having breakfast at a Connecticut bed and breakfast.Whatever time of year it is, it’s never a bad idea to escape for a night or two, as a romantic getaway, girls’ trip, or even a night by yourself. Lucky for us in Fairfield County, if the stars and childcare align, you don’t have to go too far to get a cozy B&B experience.

It’s no surprise that there is an abundance of romantic and splurge-worthy B&Bs and Inns within a stone’s throw of Fairfield County. Below are a few noteworthy picks that are close enough to enjoy for a date night weekend away.

1. White Hart Inn

This is an old, historic farmhouse renovated in 2014. Located in the center of Salisbury, CT, each of the comfortable 16 guest rooms comes with a Carrara marble bathroom and a four-poster bed. The sole suite is named after John Harney of Harney and Sons.
The taproom is perfect for a hearty, warm meal. Think fish and chips and buttermilk fried chicken in front of a fire. The rooms are cozy and inviting, and the clawfoot tubs in each bathroom are great for soaking. White Hart is a perfect location to hunker down and get snowed in. It is a nicely kept secret in sleepy Litchfield County.

2. Captain’s Mansion

This spot is on a side street tucked away from downtown Mystic’s bustling waterfront and main drag. This boutique inn was recently renovated (and renamed from Spicer Mansion), which offers privacy and luxury. During the warmer months, the backyard dinner patio overlooks a lawn with a firepit. It’s a great spot for a cocktail.
The 8-room property has two parlors, which are perfect for a nightcap. The inclusive, high-end European continental breakfast impresses with muffins, scones, and French press coffee.

3. Bedford Post Inn

Located in Bedford, NY, this is a charming and quaint eight-room inn spread over 14 acres and tucked in the hills of Westchester County. There is a yoga studio and two farm-to-table restaurants on the premises. One is formal, and the other is a bit more casual. They have a complimentary snack bar and fridge in the lounge area for guests and a wine and cheese hour. Continental breakfast is included and can be brought to your room. Most of the cozy rooms have a working fireplace, and some come with a private terrace, making it a unique and ideal weekend getaway.

4. The Inn at Kenmore Hall

The hospitality quotient at the Inn at Kenmore Hall in Richmond, MA, steps it up a notch. The innkeepers are very inviting hosts. The impressive 20-acre grounds and bucolic mountain views are fantasy-like. There are five rooms in the main inn (all with a fireplace) and a separate carriage house cottage with more privacy.
Fun fact – Leonard Bernstein used to occupy the carriage house during his early days at nearby Tanglewood. There are parlors with an honor bar and a fireplace in the main house, and there is an impressive book collection in every room. The Inn at Kenmore Hall is located close to all Berkshire attractions.
