1. The Ivy Hotel 

The Ivy was opened in 2015 by husband and wife team Eddie and C Sylvia Brown. It is one of the finest hotels in downtown Baltimore and offers amenities such as free movies, free minibar booze, afternoon tea, and billiards!

2. Urban Cowboy

Founded by former model Jersey Banks and minor league hockey player Lyon Banks, this popular urban mountain lodge retreat is on 68 acres. The Catskills National Park surrounds it. It started with an outpost in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and has gone on to include outposts in Catskills, Nashville, and Denver. With plenty of mountain trails, no cell phone service, and rooms with signature clawfoot tubs for two, there are plenty of opportunities to unplug and soak in some well-deserved self-care. 3. The Salamander Resort & Spa

This family-friendly resort with a  23,000 sq foot spa and 14,000 sq foot horse stable is located in Middleburg, Virginia. It was designed and created by media mogul and BET co-founder Sheila Johnson. The Salamander offers activities from zip lining to catch and release fishing, archery, ax throwing, falconry, and river floats.

4. Akwaaba Mansion

This bed and breakfast in Bedford Stuyvesant is the brainchild of husband and wife team Glenn Pogue and Monique Greenwood (former editor-in-chief at Essence magazine). Starting in 2003, it has expanded with locations in Philadelphia, DC, Cape MA, New Jersey, and the Poconos.

5. Oak Bluffs Inn

The third proprietors of the Oak Bluffs Inn in Martha’s Vineyard are highly knowledgeable of the island. Rhonda and Erik Albert will make you feel at home at their bed and breakfast, centrally located in Oak Bluffs, MA.
