Regardless if you or someone you loved tested positive for Covid-19, the pandemic has changed our inner and outer worlds. To some extent, most people have felt uprooted, frightened, and disconnected. There seems to be a clear line – before the pandemic and after (assuming it is over). For many people, unhealthy thoughts, feelings, and behaviors resurfaced or began during this time.
Before the pandemic started, about 8% of U.S. adults experienced depression. In April 2020, that number jumped to an astonishing 28%, and a year later increased to 32%! The data shows people are lonely and isolated on a scale we have not seen before.
There is no going back to our old version of “normal,” but we have a unique opportunity to shape how we can move forward. In response to the demands for care, Darien Wellness has started a new, confidential support group for people ready to rebuild their lives. The group, Resolve to Reconnect, will allow clients from all parts of Connecticut to start moving in the right direction.
Writer Damien Barr said, “We are not all in the same boat. We are all in the same storm.” Keeping that in mind, we believe there is strength in sharing your experiences while also hearing and honoring how others have dealt with similar situations.
So, now, we can all begin thinking about establishing a new rhythm for a new year; how can we make the most of the new year? It starts with being present, open, and reflective. For ourselves and others, this is the time to tap back into the resilience that got us through the worst of the pandemic. Resolve to Reconnect can help you figure out how to recover from the trauma of the past few years.
In the group, you will reflect, share, and grow in the company of others aided by the expertise of licensed clinical social worker Elizabeth Ferrell. In this virtual support group, you will discuss stress, depression, and isolation and how to overcome them. Tools and strategies will be shared to start this new year on a positive note while considering all the changes that have occurred in our daily lives. Resolve to Reconnect with Darien Wellness this year!
