The Volvo XC90 Turned Me Into a Car Person

Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy the finer things in life, but when it comes to the car I drive, I’ve never felt the need to indulge.

For me, a car has always simply been a means to get from point A to point B. I currently drive a beat-up Honda CRV, the floor mats caked in sand and goldfish crackers.

So when offered the chance to test drive a Volvo XC90 for the weekend, I figured why not indulge a bit…and indulge we did!

I picked up our Volvo on a rainy Friday night. It was the end of our spring break staycation. We had stayed close to home for COVID safety reasons. Although we couldn’t get away to a luxurious beach resort this April Break, from the first moment I sat in the Volvo XC90, it did feel like a sort of mini-vacation.

Not only is the car stunning, but I immediately felt pampered by all the luxury interior features.

The seats and steering wheel are heated, the touch screen display is huge, there is a wireless phone charging pad and three rows for comfort..I could go on and on.

As a nervous driver, I felt at ease in my new ride due to all the safety features.

The lane assist kept me safely in the lane during my rainy rush hour drive home. The “heads-up display” projected the speed limit for the area onto my windshield and the Apple CarPlay feature let me easily and safely use apps from my phone without fumbling around while driving.

The most exciting aspect of my weekend, however, had to be seeing my kids’ reactions to the Volvo. They don’t spend much time inside luxury vehicles, so their minds were blown! Even now, three weeks after returning the car they ask when we can get it back!

Their favorite feature was probably the panoramic sunroof which allowed them to gaze at the sky while driving around. After yet another fight, they loved being able to separate into different rows! During school drop-off, the three rows provided extra room for dancing and bouncing around the back!

I loved the seatbelt notification, letting me know when they were buckled properly as it’s always a struggle for my 5-year-olds!

Lastly, my husband even got in on the fun! He’s a broad guy who barely fits in my Honda Crossover. He loved all of the space in the XC90. His favorite feature was the foot-activated power liftgate. He could easily load in our purchases when running errands.

His only gripe was that it is longer than my crossover, so wouldn’t fit in our tiny garage. You’d better believe; however, he was doing some mental gymnastics, trying to figure out how to make it fit should we purchase one someday. I almost think he loved the car the most!

Our weekend with the Volvo XC90 was so enjoyable, I’m starting to think that maybe I am a car person after all!? I simply haven’t found the right car that excites me.

When it’s time to purchase our next family vehicle the Volvo XC90 is on the top of our list. Everyone at Riley Volvo Cars Stamford was super friendly and nice. You truly can sense that it is a family-run business and I would be happy to recommend them to anyone I know!
