As soon as I got into the Volvo XC90 that I borrowed for the weekend from Riley Volvo Cars Stamford, I knew immediately that this is the ultimate car for busy moms. It’s safe, easy to use, and it’s comfortable.
As a working mom of three kids who are all very busy, I’m not exaggerating about the number of hours I spend in my car each week. I lovingly joke that we are at the phase of parenthood where our evenings and weekends are spent dropping kids off and picking kids up.
Safety
This is a priority. My kids are old enough to hop in and out of the car for their activities, and we often carpool with their friends. When it is dark out, the handles for entering the car have lights, and when the car is turned on, the dash will show who is not wearing a seat belt. This is a huge help for kids who can buckle themselves. In addition, the lane-keeping aid is great for highway driving, and speed limit and school zone signs come up on the dash as an extra helpful precaution.
The backup camera is panoramic and crystal clear. For example, one morning, when I was backing out of my driveway, I could see a neighbor walking her dog in my blind spot from the camera.
Ease and Simplicity
With a dash of luxury, of course. Does this car have everything you could think of in a vehicle? Yes! But, the best part is none of it is intimidating. I love that all the functions are digitized and in one space. All of the extras, like the sensor windshield wipers and the wireless phone charger, can be turned on and off with one tap. In a busy parking lot, the parking assist makes both pulling into spots and backing in a breeze.
Comfort
I really cannot put into words just how comfortable the driver’s seat in the Volvo XC90 is. Again, I spend a lot of time in the car; the comfort of the seat makes it so much easier! Perhaps my favorite feature is the different driver profiles. You can set everything from seat preference to the look of the dashboard and radio stations for up to three drivers. There is no need to adjust the seat or mirrors after my husband drives the car!
