Show your fit side… for FREE! Want to participate in a fun fitness event with obstacles that don’t include mud or electric shock? Check out the Fitathlon Challenge, an event that is NEW to Fairfield County this year and will feature events for all fitness levels, for adults and kids!
And…..we’ve teamed up with the Fitathlon Challenge to offer 3 lucky readers 3 Adult race ($99 value each) entries and 3 Kids race entries ($15 value each)! All you have to do state why you want to participate in the comment box below by Wed, July 3rd. Giveaway ends at 9:00 pm on the 3rd. Winner will be announced on our Facebook page.
Certified Personal Trainer Doug Dorsey, said he created the event because he was training so many clients for obstacle course events in his boot camps and one-on-one training, but his clients wanted events that were more focused on fitness and less on mud pits. Clients also wanted to be able to participate with friends, even though they were all at different fitness levels.
Something for everyone
In the Fitathlon Challenge, YOU choose which level you want to compete in. Everyone does similar obstacles, but a self declared “Newbie” will do 30 seconds of “Rope Slams” and can get assistance or work with teams getting over a 5 ft. wall, while “Competitors” can only rely on their own skill and compete for cash prizes.
Bring the kids!
There is a kids challenge too and it’s all about fun. Doug said “I’ve been to so many events where the adults are having a great time, and the kids are asking – “Can’t I do it to?” Kids do smaller versions of similar obstacles, and for younger children, their parents can participate with them. The first Fitathlon Challenge was held last September, and was recently run in April in the Greater Hartford area with 2,000 participants and now, the event is coming to Sherwood Island Park in Westport, October 5th.
