The Enchanted Castle is back! The grand re-opening of this cherished event will be held October 24 – 30, 2019 at the Burr Homestead (739 Old Post Road) in Fairfield, Connecticut.

The Castle first opened to the greater Fairfield community in 1991 and was run for twenty-two years by the Ahlbin Auxiliary of Bridgeport Hospital. In 2019 the Auxiliary handed the event over to The Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County (JLEFC).

The JLEFC is a not for profit organization committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. It was founded in 1920 by 47 women and currently has over 250 members. The League is committed to improving the lives of those in greatest need in the Greater Bridgeport area and some of their past projects are parts of organizations that continue to thrive in our community today.

The JLEFC was involved in the formation of the Discovery Museum, the Beardsley Zoo, and the School Volunteer Association, just to name a few. Taking on the Enchanted Castle aligns with the League mission and is a significant next step to developing the League’s relationship with the community. Enchanted Castle

The Enchanted Castle is a family friendly (not scary!) Halloween event, where kids and parents take a magical tour through the entire Burr Homestead. Each room throughout the mansion is decorated with a different “Fairy Tale” theme including Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Pirates, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. As groups take the tour of the Castle, they will enjoy breathtaking decorations and hear stories from the live characters in costume.

The event is designed for children 2-10 years of age but will be sure to excite the whole family. At the end of the Castle tour, families are welcome to stay for food, drinks, a “boo-tique”, face painting and more.

A large part of the Castle’s significance is opening up the opportunity for community members to volunteer alongside League members. Over the course of the seven days, the Junior League will gather together over 350 volunteers to put on the event.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony before the grand re-opening on Thursday, October 24.

Tickets are on sale at www.jlefc.org. They are $10 per person online or at the door. Kids under 2 are free. Volunteers can sign up atwww.jlefc.org or email [email protected].

Please direct any questions to the event tri-chairs: Julie McCloud ([email protected]), Jen Moore ([email protected]) and Christina Grabon ([email protected]). All three chairs are local moms and proud Junior League members.
