It might still be considered winter, but it’s that time of year when moms need to start thinking about summer plans. Wait, what!? Yup, any experienced mom knows that to stay sane during summer break, you need to put those kiddos in camp! But there are just so many options out there to choose from. Whether your child is into sports and dance, performing arts, computer technology, or shows an interest in sleepaway camps, we’ve put together our second annual Summer Camp Guide. All camps are going above and beyond to follow COVID safety protocols. We hope that this resource provides the information that you need to plan a fun and stress-free summer. This guide features programming options in Fairfield County and surrounding areas. Please support our sponsors.


National Computer Camp is America’s original computer camp since 1977 and is held at Fairfield University. Their focus is coding, game design, Android App programming, web page design, and software applications, including networking and animation. They offer all programming levels in Python, Basic, C++, Java, Assembler, HTML, XML, OpenGL, and JavaScript. An optional recreation program is also available. Additional activities include Arduino computer lab, 3D printing, Robotics, and Chess. NCC is not a summer school but rather a place where learning and fun are rolled into one. Scholarships are available – funds are limited; apply early.


Tips on Trips and Camps is a free advisory service connecting families to overnight summer camps, trips, academic programs, and other unique experiences. Their goal is to find the right match for your child from among their carefully screened and selected summer programs. They are much easier to use than Google!


Camp Playland in New Canaan is the day camp with the away camp atmosphere! Celebrating 65 summers, Camp Playland offers 18 beautifully wooded acres, an exceptional staff, and an outstanding program for campers ages 3-14. Door-to-door transportation in Fairfield County! Activities include swimming, go-karts, archery, arts & crafts, athletics, boating, fishing, ropes course, and more. Give your child a summer camp experience that makes lifelong memories.


Harbor Light Summer Adventures is a traditional day camp located in Fairfield for children ages 4-12. Their priority is to provide a safe and fun environment where campers learn, grown, and make new friends. The “theme of the week” complements regular camp activities, including field games, art, science, and music, culminating with special celebrations on Fridays.


Character, leadership, and the highest level of sportsmanship distinguish St. Luke’s athletics. Under the direction of the experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff, campers will take advantage of St. Luke’s state-of-the-art athletic facilities in a fun and safe environment. Multi-sport Camp (ages 4-14) features soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball, field hockey, basketball, squash, tennis & more! Baseball Camp (ages 6-12) teaches baseball fundamentals and develops individual player skill sets. Elite Baseball Training Camp (ages 14-19) is for the travel/showcase level baseball player. The camp will focus on a training regiment that caters to their extensive summer tournament schedule. Football Camp (ages 6-13) is for players to have fun and learn football fundamentals while building confidence and supreme character. For all St. Luke’s Summer Sports Camps, safety is their top priority with physical distancing, hygiene, and mask protocols followed at all times.


Learn, connect and have fun this summer. St. Luke’s wide range of programs includes essay writing workshops, arts and STEM programs, academic classes, and sports camps. Families have many dates and times to choose from and online and on-campus (in-person) options. New Canaan Nature Center is excited to introduce its Sustainable STEAM program this summer. Come and explore what you can do to help the environment thrive as they build their science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) skills. All children will meet daily with a Handwork Specialist to complete projects such as sewing, carving, knitting, felting, natural dyeing, and much more. They are excited to offer engineering and land stewardship projects for the full-day classes! Day Camp: June 1 – August 13, ages 3-5 years. Half-day programs, ages 4 – 10 years. Full-day Adventure Camp: June 21 – August 6.


SPRGolf Jr. Academy is run by Stephan Roach at the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course. Clinics run weekly for 10 weeks. Students get on-course play time and instruction at the driving range, indoor video room, short game instruction, and drills. Clinics are limited to 20 students per session and a 3 to 1 ratio on the golf course. Clinics run weekly from Monday, June 22 through Monday, August 17. 


The Pilot House Community Farm’s popular Riding and Farm Summer Program is like no other in Fairfield County! They take pride in giving your child more one-on-one attention due to only 8 campers per week. They will learn the basics of riding, horsemanship, and life on the farm working with animals, enjoy arts and crafts and gardening, and hike their groomed trails. 


At Stonecrest Farm, they pride themselves on providing a spectacular summer riding experience by offering lessons with top trainers to all levels of riders with a strong emphasis placed on developing horsemanship skills. They also make sure to have fun in traditional summer camp activities like nature adventures and arts and crafts.


Summer at the Darien YMCA – where screens are replaced by screams of excitement and kids can unplug and have some fun! From sailing to somersaults, arts and crafts to outdoor adventures, sports to science and technology, the Darien YMCA camp experience offers kids the chance to learn new things and enjoy new adventures. Open to children ages 3 to 15 years old. Campers can choose from our Preschool Camp, School Age Traditional Camp, Gymnastics Camp, Afternoon Navigators, or Swim and Sail Camp for children with special needs. Summer adventures at Ambler Farm, ‘where good things grow.’ This unique program provides your child with opportunities to experience farm life and to connect with the land, animals, and each other. Spending time with goats, sheep, and pigs is a favorite activity, along with checking nesting boxes for eggs. Turkey, geese, rabbits, and baby chicks provide engaging opportunities for kids to interact and learn. Plus, your child may harvest berries, peas, cucumbers, garlic potatoes, tomatoes, or more, depending on the week. Each week includes woodworking, hayrides, and harvesting. Each week there is a new theme around which they center many activities. Join them for your choice of weeks or for the whole summer – June 14 – August 9.


Triple Double Basketball is Fairfield’s leader in youth basketball development! Triple Double Basketball is led by experienced coaches who will help your child get better and grow a love of the game! They provide basketball training and programs for boys and girls in grades K-8!


EverWonder Children’s Museum cultivates a lifelong love-of-learning in children by encouraging them to think, inquire, and wonder about the world around them. They offer hands-on exhibits and programming to spark imagination in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.


Center Stage Theatre in Shelton is offering a variety of in-person summer camp options for grades K-12! Center Stage Theatre is an inclusive and intergenerational community-based theatre providing quality and affordable performances, educational programming, and volunteer opportunities. Founded in 2005 by Gary and Francesca Scarpa, the theatre produces five full-scale productions a year, four of which are with age-appropriate casts and one of which is its annual Youth CONNection summer musical, with a cast of high school and college students, as well as year-round theatre education for students grades K-12. A member of the American Association of Community Theatre organization, Center Stage operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit theatre out of its home in Shelton, Connecticut, and attracts actors from surrounding towns, including Ansonia, Derby, Trumbull, Orange, Milford, and more. Summer is right around the corner, and Fairfield University is excited to announce that registration is open for a variety of in-person sports camps for all ages and levels, including basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, and softball. Camps are run by Fairfield Stag coaches and athletes and held at facilities and fields on their beautiful campus. The University will be adhering to all local and state health and safety guidelines.
