Paper. Scissors. Glue. {favorite kid’s crafts for September}

Carsus, Textura gouache 2Paper. Scissors. Glue. is a monthly list on Fairfield County Mom’s Blog. Every month we’ll suggest some fun crafts to do with your kids. There will be four categories of age-appropriate crafts for you to choose from, all of which can be modified for older or smaller hands. So, get out your paper, scissors and glue and have some fun this September!

Toddler (under 2)

  1. September 16 is Nation Play Dough Day. Save some money and make your own – take it up a notch and make glitter playdough or try out this fun recipe and make a play dough bar.
  2. Make some edible finger paint for your toddler’s art masterpiece.
  3. September means apples! Have your toddler make his or her own apple tree with this adorable toilet paper roll and tissue paper craft.

Preschool (3-4)

  1. I know at my house September means a yard covered in acorns. We’ll have to use them to create this cute frame this year.
  2. It’s apple time here in CT, and your preschooler will love these apple crafts.
  3. September 19 is Talk Like A Pirate Day. Celebrate with one or more of these pirate crafts.

Early Elementary (5-7)

  1. September is Happy Cat Month. Make this cat box!
  2. Make these handmade coasters for Grandma and Grandpa for Grandparents Day on September 11.
  3. These salt dough leaf prints are easy to make and look great out on display this time of year.

Late Elementary (8-10)

  1. The leaves are going to start to turn colors soon. Try these great leaf crafts.
  2. Foster a love of reading with these DIY bookmarks.
  3. Your kids will love making these bowls to hold all their special little things.

Remember, as always, kids develop the skills to do these projects at different rates, so please choose what best fits your child – not the recommended ages for each craft. And remember to have fun (and that mess is okay!)

Do you have a craft you like to do with your kids this time of year? We’d love to know!

Make sure to check out last month’s crafts here.
