Pumpkin: The Perfect Ingredient for Fall Skincare

0

I am pro pumpkin when it comes to the Fall season. Pumpkin decor, pumpkin foods, and yes, even pumpkin skincare.

Did you know pumpkin contains natural enzymes, which makes it great for exfoliation? The gorgeous orange color is thanks to vitamin A, a known ingredient in many anti-aging products. Pumpkin is terrific for nourishing and refreshing all types of complexions.  So give your skincare a seasonal lift and try one of these festive yet functional products.

Peter Thomas Roth makes a Pumpkin Enzyme Mask that is designed to exfoliate away dull skin and leave a glowing fresh complexion in its place. Pumpkin is the 4th ingredient in this product, which means there’s actually pumpkin in something besides the name!

Mychelle Dermaceuticals offers a whole range of pumpkin products. Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser is great for cleansing dry skin, The Incredible Pumpkin Peel clears pores of gunk, and Pumpkin Renew Cream is packed with Pumpkin Seed oil for super hydration.

If you want to indulge without eating a single calorie, get yourself over to a Bath and Bodyworks, which goes nuts over pumpkin fragrances this time of year. I’m especially drooling over the Comfort Body Lotion, which has the scent of pumpkin latte and marshmallow, and is just as rich and thick as a drinkable treat. You can also pick up Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin handsoap so guests can be treated to pumpkin as well.

Or, get crafty and save some money by making your own pumpkin mask. I like this recipe, from beautylish.com:

2 Tbsp organic canned pumpkin puree or 1 small pumpkin
1/2 tsp organic honey
1/2 tsp milk

Combine pumpkin puree, honey, and milk in a small bowl and mix well. If using a fresh pumpkin (or leftovers from a carved jack-o-lantern), scrape the insides and remove the seeds. Beat the gooey insides to a creamy pulp and mix with honey and milk. Apply the mask using your fingers or a medium-sized makeup brush; avoid getting the mixture too close to the eyes. Allow the mask to set for about 20 minutes. Gently wash off the mask with a warm, damp washcloth and follow with a moisturizer.
