“Chase is on the case!” This phrase can be heard multiple times throughout the day at my house, starting as early as 5:30am (thank you DVR). Ryder and his Paw Patrol pups (Chase, Marshall, Skye, Zuma, Rubble, and Rocky – the original crew – and now Everest and Tracker) have saved me from meltdowns, allowed me to make a cup of coffee, take a shower, and even cook dinner.
My older son is 5 years old and has grown up with the pups who have definitely matured over the past 3 years. His favorite is Chase, the police pup and Ryder’s right hand dog. Chase keeps all the pups in line with his megaphone and maturity beyond his years. I love the good example Chase sets for my son. Chase is kind, takes care of the pups, never yells, and is always positive. In fact, all the pups demonstrate great teamwork and cooperation. They never seem to argue; something I hope my son will internalize, especially when dealing with his younger brother.
Another skill the pups teach is ethics, which is so important these days. Unlike so many of the other cartoons on TV, Paw Patrol isn’t rude to the adults or each other. This is one of the reasons why I don’t mind dedicating so much of my DVR space to the pups. The only bad guy is Mayor Humdinger. He’s from a nearby town, Foggy Bottom, and is always trying to show up the mayor of Adventure Bay, where the pups live. While a little unrealistic, I like the fact that good ethics always prevail and Mayor Humdinger never wins.
Paw Patrol has such universal charm that both boys and girls, young and old love all the pups, and Ryder too. How do I know this besides my two sons? I have many friends who claim “No job is too big, no pup is too small, Paw Patrol is on the roll,” and have saved their day too.
Do the pups save you too or do you have a different cartoon as your go-to savior?
{Daniel Tiger is also a FCMB favorite!}
