Carsus, Textura gouache 2Paper. Scissors. Glue. is a monthly list on Fairfield County Mom’s Blog. Every month we’ll suggest some fun crafts to do with your kids. There will be four categories of age-appropriate crafts for you to choose from, all of which can be modified for older or smaller hands. So, get out your paper, scissors and glue and have some fun this October!

Toddler (under 2): 

  1. Learn about fall shapes and colors using cookie cutters and this pumpkin spice playdough recipe.
  2. Make a paper plate witch hat to get into the Halloween spirit.
  3. Your child will love to make her own (pipe cleaner) creepy-crawly.

Preschool (3-4):

  1. Get out the paper plates, some orange paint and googly eyes to make this Halloween wreath.
  2. EEK! Your kids will love making this spider hat and decorating it to make it their own.
  3. These spider web crafts are fun and easy to make for all ages.

Early Elementary (5-7):

  1. Columbus Day is October 10. Make a spyglass and pretend you’re discovering America.
  2. Bring out your child’s inner mad scientist with these glow jars.
  3. Every kid (big and small) will love these eyeball crafts.

Late Elementary (8-10):

  1. Did you know that October 6 is Mad Hatter Day? Try making one of these mini-Mad Hatter hats.
  2. There is a Friday the 13th in October – double trouble. Your kids can make a charm bracelet to ward off those evil spirits!
  3. October 25-31 is International Magic Week. Make your own magic monster slime.
