One Morning With Amy {A Photo Essay Series}

0

“One Morning” is a photo essay series that provides a sneak peek into the everyday lives of the Fairfield County Moms Blog contributors. The morning routine is photographed by N. Lalor Photography and words are written by each mom to tell the story behind the images. It’s a rare and intimate look into each family’s life, one morning at a time.

I wish I was one of those women who could get up before dawn and get a full day’s worth of activities done before 9:00 am. But I’m not. I set my alarm for 6:00 am each morning, determined to get up and work out or answer the 20 emails waiting for me in my inbox. But I don’t. I wish I could pop out of bed, refreshed and ready to walk the dogs. But I can’t.

Instead, I hit snooze about 10 times and finally roll out of bed when the baby’s soft cries and coos become monster screams loud enough to wake the neighbors. THIS is how we start our day.

I could get up and get my day started now, but I don’t. I bring the baby back into bed with me and give him his morning bottle. Meanwhile….

Downstairs, my loving husband takes care of our furry babies, walking and feeding them.

Breakfasts around here are pretty casual. We never seem to eat breakfast together around the table. Instead, we eat on the move, unloading the dishwasher and loading the washing machine, packing lunches and applying sunscreen.

Our days usually consistent of not really having a plan. That’s the beauty of summer – you can fly by the seat of your pants. Today, we’re going to meet the grandparents at the Beardsley Zoo. Before we leave, though, we always have time to play.

Getting 2 tiny humans ready and out the door is overwhelming. Those of you with more than 2, I don’t know how you do it! And I hate being late! I feel like I’m constantly checking and double checking that we have what we need and that everyone has shoes, blankies, sippy cups, and anything else under the sun and I still forget at least 2 things I need. Today, however, we are on time, but his shoes are in my bag.
