My Christmas Bucket List

VeryMerryChristmas2Our December is full of family get-togethers, my daughter’s 2nd birthday, and holiday plans; but, I’m still hoping to make time for some holiday fun, including both old and new traditions, for my family of three.

Here’s what’s on my Christmas Bucket List this year:

Bake and decorate Christmas cookies – I love vanilla-frosted gingerbread cookies, and I also recommend trying this gingerbread biscotti recipe… Yum!

Make a holiday centerpiece – I think these 3D Christmas trees will be a fun craft for my daughter and I to make and decorate together.

Read Christmas stories – I bought a few books after Christmas last year (50% off at Barnes & Noble!), and have waited ’til now to share them (Snowmen at Christmas, The Night Before ChristmasThe Story of Christmas) with my daughter.

Visit the reindeer at McArdle’s – From now until December 23rd, McArdle’s Florist and Garden Center in Greenwich is the home to four of Santa’s reindeer, fed daily at 9AM and 4PM.  Santa will also be there for photos: Monday thru Friday 12PM – 6PM, Saturday 9AM – 6PM, Sunday 9AM – 5PM.

Holiday Happenings at Stepping Stones – I’m really hoping we can make it to one of their “North Pole Comes to Stepping Stones” events (December 19th-24th; 11AM-12PM and 3PM-4PM), but if not, we’ll be sure to stop by an “Elf Workshop” (December 2nd-18th, excluding Sundays, 11AM-12PM) and let my daughter try sock skating outside in the Celebration Courtyard.

Drive to see Christmas lights – I love to make hot chocolate to-go, play Christmas music, and drive to see decorated houses and/or neighborhoods.  Any recommendations in the Greenwich/Stamford area!?

Donate Food & Gifts – I’ve mentioned before that my family views the holidays as a wonderful time to give to those in need in our community.  In my Thanksgiving post, I rounded up a few local organizations accepting food donations and then Kara also shared some other ways to donate books, toys, and food this holiday season.
