Meet Jamie: Nowhere Else

1

My days consist of doing what seems like everything for three little humans, a husband, and two cockapoos. Days are long, my toddlers are tough, and my preschooler is moody. Our house seems too small, yet cleaning it is an endless feat. I cook delicious meals that my children don’t eat. Most of my social interactions often consist of awkward chats with moms around town and making small-talk with the many strangers who mention the amount of and ages of my children.

This sounds terrible at best, but there is truly nowhere else I’d rather be. I am in the trenches of motherhood but when I take a deep breath and appreciate the very special time I am spending with my children, I know that it will all be okay. No matter how crazy my day may get I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I have worked with children since I was thirteen years old and after my first teaching job I fell in love with early childhood. The experience of teaching and caring for young children led me to be sure that one day parenthood would be for me. I have a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and have taught in day care centers, preschools, and public schools. I have also held various administrative positions.

It was at my first administrative position while in graduate school in 2006 that I met my husband. Coincidentally, during my first month at a new administrative position in 2014, I found out I was pregnant with our rainbow baby. Special things happen when I’m working at a desk. At the same time that we were expecting in 2014 we were house hunting and made the move from Westchester County where my husband and I were born and raised to Fairfield County and settled in our first home in Danbury, CT.

We welcomed Lucy in December of 2014. She was magical and motherhood was everything I’d imagined and more. Everything really seemed to click with her. I returned to work after my maternity leave and spent many days at my desk dreaming of the day when I could be with my girl full-time. As an only child, I knew I wanted our family to grow and a few months after Lucy’s first birthday we were surprised to learn we were expecting boy/girl twins.

Brooke and Christopher were born a little ahead of time in October 2016 and our family is now complete – according to my husband. I started my current position as a stay-at-home mom in the fall of 2017. My days are a far cry from what I’d imagined them to be when I was dreaming at my desk but again there is nowhere else I’d rather be.

Finding out I was pregnant with twins led me to scour the internet and social media for advice and stories from the experts – other moms. I found blogs and loved reading true life stories from women who are right where I am in life or women who have been where I am before. In addition to good friends, running, snacking, bottles of wine, and mindless television, these anecdotes and advice help keep me sane and feel connected. That is why I am so excited to share some of my own stories with Fairfield County Moms Blog readers and even more proud to be part of this community of moms.

Jamie is a mom to a daughter (2014) and boy/girl twins (2016). She was born and raised in Westchester County, NY and together with her husband (married in 2011), made Danbury, CT their hometown. Jamie is a real estate agent with William Raveis Real Estate. In the present day, more than ever before, “home” is an essential and safe place in an ever-changing world. Helping clients achieve their homeownership goals, searching for the home that’s “just right,” or helping them move on from a home that no longer serves them drives Jamie in her real estate career. Home for Jamie is Northern Fairfield County, and she never gets tired of spending time in the community with her family, visiting her favorite parks, and exploring local shops and restaurants. Jamie can be found on the Peloton leaderboard at 6:30 every morning, which fuels her long days of work and momming. Morning workouts are as athletic as she gets, and her favorite thing is tucking her children in at night and catching up on whatever show she is streaming. As much as she loves staying in, she doesn’t pass up a night out with her childhood girlfriends or a date night with her hubby.
