LuCk {Simple Summer Fun}

Simple SummerFun

I start off each summer with a laundry list of things (other than laundry) that I’d like to do with my child. I mean, life is just better in flip-flops, isn’t it? The days just get a bit lazier…there are ice cream sundae rides, popsicles, fireworks, and skies filled with twinkling stars. Summer means trips to the beach, more time to spend with family and friends, and the ever persistent smell of sunscreen wafting through the air, and we love everything about it through and through.

Summer is all about easy, simple, fun activities! Here’s a sampling of some of our favorites! Check out the full list on LuCk!

Building a basic bubble tool kit is a great way to keep the kids entertained for a while on a summer day. There are so many bubble activities to entertain kids of all ages! Set up various materials to explore by filling some shallow tubs with bubble solution. Explore blowing bubbles with fly swatters, string, straws, paper tubes, and bubble wands.  A plastic drink dispenser makes a great “bubble refill” station! Kids love filling cups with the soapy solution for more bubble play!

{Water Play}water play

Water play is the quintessential pre-school summer activity. I love it because you literally just have to add water! A water play station can be created for under $10 (and a few recyclables). If you don’t have room for a kiddie pool, a simple bucket and some cups and sponges will do. Add a little bit of sand or dirt, and you and your kid can whip up a delicious mud pie in no time at all!

{Pudding Painting}   Pudding Painting

I love finger paint! Pudding makes it edible, non-toxic and yummy, what’s not to love!? Finger painting is pretty basic, and this is what makes it all the more awesome! I highly suggest you have a pool or sprinklers near by  to “splash” off in!  You can gather things (like leaves, sticks, or grass) from around your yard to use as brushes. Letting your kids drag these things through the paint will create different patterns and texture. We love Live Play Learn’s Super Simple Pudding Paint Recipe

Hi, we're Karen & Ally. Karen is the proud mama of Lucas. Ally is raising a feisty little lady named Charlotte, aka Charley, aka Chuck. Karen and Ally have a combined total of over 20 years of working in Education. We love to play with {and occasionally without}our kids. We love to see our children messy, giggling, and covered in fun {except for glitter, that's where we draw the line}. We consider themselves LuCky to be mothers. And that's how we came up with our blog, LuCk (little bit Lucas, little bit Chuck). 3 Things About Ally & Karen If my life were a TV show, it would be titled : Ally: Make n' Mingle Karen: Eat & Run Or, 2 Moms That MAke More of A Mess Than Their 2 Kids Other blogs regularly followed: Ally: Scary Mommy, OhJoy, & Not Martha Karen: OmNom Favorite thing to do in your spare {ha!} time: Ally: Debate going to the gym until it's too late and I don't have the time to go to the gym, train for my next 5K, start a project I found on Pinterest that I'll never have time to finish. Karen: Think of a new way to include peanut butter into my diet, run, repeat. Together we take momcations to Target!
