Last week the Fairfield County Moms Blog contributor team had a real treat: a moms’ night out at Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill in Fairfield! We sampled some wonderful appetizers from the Happy Hour menu along with their incredible table-side made guacamole, delicious margaritas and mojitos!

Happy Hour at Geronimo is Monday-Saturday from 4-7 p.m. and late night 9 p.m. until close. This special menu features $5 Classic Margaritas along with other awesome drink specials and delicious appetizers. Friday nights you can also enjoy live music.

Geronimo happens to be one of my family’s favorite restaurants in Fairfield. My 6 year old is obsessed with the live scorpions in two of the tables. He lobbies for us to get him a pet scorpion at home (thanks Geronimo!). We will settle for dinnertime visits for now! I love the restaurant for the high quality food and abundant space for families and big groups.

On this visit, we started with drinks and guacamole made fresh right at the table. We requested “spicy” but it wasn’t very spicy, just flavorful. Then the charming Culinary Director, Chef Arturo Franco-Camancho brought out some awesome bites such as the Chicken Tinga quesadilla and empanadas, chicken wings, skillet nachos, short rib taquitos, and jalapeno poppers with smoked bacon. Yum!

One of the mamas is dairy and gluten free and the chef pointed out that the tortillas are all corn and made fresh in house. He then kindly provided her with dairy free nachos and tacos. The food was all delicious and well balanced. The chicken tinga is one of my favorite preparations. It has a smokey, but not spicy flavor, and it’s shredded which makes it blend nicely with the other ingredients. None of the mamas left hungry that’s for sure!

The margaritas at Geronimo are really to die for. They squeeze all the limes daily for the lime juice. The spicy ones are my personal favorite and they have multiple delicious flavors to choose from, including blood orange and passion fruit. While we were there, the restaurant offered live music by a wonderful acoustic guitarist who sang classic folk and rock standards. The music really adds to the fun ambiance.

I think I can safely say that all the mamas would recommend Geronimo for a fun family outing or a grownups only night out. It really has something for everyone!
