Hello Moms! {meet Stacey}

I’m thrilled to be added as a contributor to the Fairfield County Moms Blog. My name is Stacey and I want to introduce myself a little! I’m a wife to Doug and a mom to Boden, who turned two back in August and is my side kick. I’m a stay-at-home mom, and the more I talk to other moms, the more I learn how rare that is around here! You can safely assume there will be a post from me about how tough it can be staying social with other adults when you’re home all day with a toddler. But I love what I do and I’m thoroughly enjoying being with my son; teaching him and learning alongside him. We currently reside in West Norwalk in a small updated farmhouse with a sunny yard and share our home with a Newfoundland dog named Hemingway.

Our weekdays vary, as Boden is in a program for two year olds at the Darien Nature Center a couple of days a week. It’s only two hours at a time but he absolutely loves it. We’re also starting a program at the New Canaan YMCA every friday through March called Big Bears. Despite having grown up in New Hampshire (or perhaps because of it) I am not a winter person, so it’s important to me to ensure that Bo and I will have plenty to keep us busy throughout the cold months of the year! Our free time is usually spent in the yard. I love being able to share my love of nature with Bo and it’s important to my husband and me that we instill in him and encourage a love and respect for this amazing planet! We love to listen for birds, search for acorns, flip rocks, collect sticks and go for walks.

When I have some time to myself, I try to maintain my love of painting and creating art. I love home design and am excited to eventually share with you my plans for Boden’s toddler room, as he transitions from his crib to a big boy bed (wish me luck!).

My favorite things about motherhood are:

-all the laughing we do

-the memories we make

-giving my son a home and life that makes him feel safe and loved

My LEAST favorite things about motherhood are:

-mealtime. Hate it. (please just TRY the mac ‘n’ cheese?!)

-worrying. (Makes me think of the Elizabeth Stone quote, “Making the decision to have a child – it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body” Yep!)

-not being able to fix everything. (a lesson hard-learned when you have a child.)

Thanks for letting my introduce myself. I look forward to sharing a little bit more of our life with you in the coming months.

 So, I’m curious: what are your favorite/least favorite things about being a mom?
