I would not call myself a hoarder, rather I like to think that I am just well prepared for “what-if” scenarios. However, there does come a point when those items you have for those “what-if” situations are no longer relevant. And sometimes all that junk (stored in the garage, attic, and even in my living room) is connected to memories and are reminders of the past. But you don’t necessarily need physical objects to keep a memory alive.
That being said, it is not easy for me to get rid of things. It takes a lot of effort for me because I think of all the memories or purpose per item. However, over the past few months I’ve been trying to be better about going through and getting rid things. I gave away of a ton of kids’ clothes, books, toys, and it felt really good; better than I had expected. I find it is helping my mental health as well.
So when I had the opportunity for Fairfield County Moms Blog sponsor 1-800-GOT-JUNK? to bring a truck to our house I seized it! They deliver junk removal with on-time service and up front rates, along with clean shiny trucks, and friendly uniformed drivers. They do all the work, so you point, and it’s gone. Goodbye Junk, Hello Relief!
Another thing that completely sold me on this opportunity was that they don’t just dump everything, they are able to donate what is salvageable. They do their best to donate and recycle as much as they can. When you use 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, you’re helping to keep junk out of the landfill and giving back to the community, too.
I easily scheduled our pick-up on their website which was extremely user-friendly. They had a lot of different two hour time slots available which seemed to fit anyone’s busy schedule. All I needed to do was set a time and pick-up location! Then I needed to figure out what junk would be removed!
This opportunity helped motivate my husband and I to go through our junk. In between the time we scheduled our pick-up and the date of the pick-up my family went through what we wanted to get rid of, but the best part was we didn’t need to move it. 1-800-GOT-Junk? does all the hard work! The gentlemen who were coming would be able to remove items from any location in the house or outside. So really all we had to do we make a decision and point! No heavy lifting from us!
The big day came and the two gentlemen that came called me about 30 minutes from their arrival and arrived within the arranged time frame. Again, all I had to do was point to what I wanted gone and they carefully put in in their truck. They were able to remove older stuff that came with our house like fencing, tiles, and cabinets. Old tables, kiddie pools, and a few lamps were also loaded on to the truck. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? will take anything from appliances, to carpets, to furniture, and everything else in between. Pretty much, they will take anything non-hazardous that two strong, able-bodied crew members can lift. They were super efficient and even swept up the driveway after they were all packed up.
Local dad, Chris Kirk takes great pride in the business he has created. He has been an actively participating franchise owner since the beginning of 2004. The business has grown from a 1 man, 1 truck operation to a 6 (soon to be 7) truck operation with 12 employees. He started the business after losing his marketing job with Kraft Foods, and hasn’t looked back since. He resides in Monroe with his wife Lorri, thier 11 year old daughter Catie, and their Goldendoodle Jax.
It was such a great cleansing feeling to get rid of all of the junk that we no longer needed. I have a feeling we still may need another cleanse in the future, especially as our girls grow. I definitely know who I’ll be calling when we are ready – 1-800-GOT-JUNK?
