Last year, my husband, for medical reasons, needed to give a gluten-free diet a try. I didn’t think it would be too much of an inconvenience for us, as with most people, it seems we are all one degree of separation away from someone who eats gluten-free. It took some getting used to, but I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to find foods for my husband and places that served gluten-free meals.
Gluten-free options used to be few and far between. Over time, with growing demands, gluten-free choices can be found in most restaurants and grocery stores. In Fairfield County, we are fortunate to have many gluten-free choices. Here are just some of the options to be gluten-free in the FC.

One of our contributors wrote a whole post about gluten-free bakeries in the FC! Check it out for some yummy options. If you want to make your own, try this delicious recipe – gluten-free chocolate chip cookies.
These are great suggestions. My husband’s mother and brother are both gluten free so we’ll be testing our little girl when she’s old enough.
Good luck to you. It’s such an easy time to be gluten free especially for children though it can get annoying. I felt like me son was gluten free by default since I was GF while pregnant and nursing. But he eats gluten and is doing fine.
Thanks for posting Shannon! We are not gluten free, but we have friends who are and I never know what to cook for them.
Jessica, I’d be happy to give you some simple adult ideas for when they visit next. We make our own manicotti for Christmas and I hope to post the very easy recipe around the holidays.
