Gluten-Free in the FC

Last year, my husband, for medical reasons, needed to give a gluten-free diet a try. I didn’t think it would be too much of an inconvenience for us, as with most people, it seems we are all one degree of separation away from someone who eats gluten-free. It took some getting used to, but I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to find foods for my husband and places that served gluten-free meals.

Gluten-free options used to be few and far between. Over time, with growing demands, gluten-free choices can be found in most restaurants and grocery stores. In Fairfield County, we are fortunate to have many gluten-free choices. Here are just some of the options to be gluten-free in the FC.

  1. These are great suggestions. My husband’s mother and brother are both gluten free so we’ll be testing our little girl when she’s old enough.

    • Good luck to you. It’s such an easy time to be gluten free especially for children though it can get annoying. I felt like me son was gluten free by default since I was GF while pregnant and nursing. But he eats gluten and is doing fine.

    • Jessica, I’d be happy to give you some simple adult ideas for when they visit next. We make our own manicotti for Christmas and I hope to post the very easy recipe around the holidays.
