Fairfield County Celebrates the Holidays!

As a working mommy I live for the weekends! I love being home with my kids…snuggling my babies, doing puzzles and playing trucks with my older son. But most of the time, I need to get out of the house!!!

Now that the holiday season is in full effect (Thanksgiving is just days away) my calendar is filling up fast. This time of year I love all the lights, shopping and holiday cheer. I want to share some fun holiday traditions with my kids, AND hopefully discover something new to do in Fairfield County.

Our area offers tons of great activities and events, but I sometimes feel like I’m two steps behind. I often find out about local events either too short notice, or even worse, after they are over. That’s why it’s so important for us mommies to stay organized!

I have created a list of special events that will be occurring throughout the month of December that you won’t want to miss. There is something for everyone this holiday season. So grab your calendars and start planning your holiday fun!

  1. The Bethel Tree Lighting is this Friday, November 29th during the Bethel Winterfest. All day.
Come downtown for a Christmas Treat. Take a ride around historic downtown Bethel in a Horse Drawn Carriage, participate in our Queen/King of Bethel Cookie Contest, Stroll along and shop all of the local merchants and sip on hot soup, cocoa, and cider, enjoy live music, visit with Santa, start your holiday shopping at our Tis the Season Holiday Marketplace, bid on and take home your favorite Wreath, and of course the Annual Lighting of the Tree.

The 1st Annual Bethel Gingerbread Festival (bethelgingerbreadfestival.com) is going on the same day noon-5 at Bethel United Methodist Church. People can come look at the gingerbread houses and vote for their favorite via donation for The American Cancer Society.
