Everything WAS Awesome!

Legoland

My family and I had the opportunity to check out Fairfield County Moms Blog sponsor, Legoland Discovery Center in Yonkers at the Ridge Hill shopping center.  We had been there once before when our kids were little, so they barely remembered it. This time, my boys being 7 and almost 5, they were in awe! Everything was awesome…really!

As soon as we walked in and they got to see the huge Lego statues and bricks everywhere, they were super excited.

My oldest took a map and became our navigator and we began our adventure. The first part of the Discovery Center takes you into the Lego Factory Tour, where the kids can see how a Lego is made. One of the Lego builders explained to our boys the process and they were able to try it themselves. My oldest son appreciated getting to see how Legos are made. The younger one had fun pushing the buttons and cranks.

Our next stop was Kingdom Quest, a ride where you go into the dark and get to save the princess. They recommend this ride for children 4+ and I would say that’s a good suggestion. Although the ride goes slowly and it’s less than 10 minutes, you are in the dark and shooting at bad guys, which may not be suitable for younger ones. My boys loved this ride and we were excited to see our picture from the ride at the end that is available for purchase.

The highlight of the trip came when we entered the newest exhibit, Lego Ninjago City Adventure.

My younger son is obsessed with Ninjago so this was by far his favorite part. There was a climbing wall, interactive games, life-size Lego figures of the characters and a huge playscape. My boys were entertained for a while here and there were even comfy seats for the parents to sit and relax while watching the kids. My husband and I remember the play area they had before and we both agreed that this new addition was a hit!

Other areas of the Discovery Center that we checked out were Miniland, with replicas of famous New York City sites such as the Empire State building and Citi Field. This is always my favorite part. The details in each replica always blow me away and some are interactive, which is always fun for the kids.

Next, my husband took the boys on Merlin’s Apprentice Ride, which is similar to a carnival ride but you get to pedal to make it go higher. Both of my boys and my husband enjoyed being high up. I enjoyed watching from the ground! Our last stop was the 4D movie which is always fun, especially the part where you get sprayed at the end. There were many options for little ones as well including toddler play areas, Duplo village, and areas to build with hundreds of Legos.

Legoland     Legoland All in all, we had a great day. LEGOLAND is a fun afternoon activity, especially during the freezing cold winter months. The price tag for the Discovery Center is about $21 per person unless you get the tickets online in advance, then they are $16.95 per person. You can also purchase an annual pass at $65 and experience LEGOLAND 12 months out of the year, whenever you want! The pass also includes discounts at the cafe and store.

Plan to spend about an hour and a half going to see all of the exhibits. Of course, you can spend more or less time, there were so many things for kids to see and do. There is also a cafe for snacks and drinks and a huge gift shop on your way out, which can be dangerous with all that they have to offer! My boys had a great day at LEGOLAND and my husband and I enjoyed seeing them smile and interact with their favorite characters. It was a great family day and I would recommend it to any family looking for something to do to beat the winter blues.
