I can’t think of a better way to end a hot summer day than with a happy hour…and ice cream. The Fairfield County Moms Blog contributor team recently got together at the Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pub in Danbury for a fun night out featuring delicious food and drink and wonderful company. We all arrived – from our respective days of working, kid wrangling and trying to beat the heat – hungry and ready for a cold drink. Danbury 99 did not disappoint!

When we walked in we were greeted warmly by the staff and cozied up in a large corner booth. We ordered a round of cold drinks while we looked over the extensive menu. Insider tip: try the Sangarita – a tangy red sangria/margarita mix over ice. So delicious, especially on a hot summer day. There is truly something for everyone – the New England style menu is diverse, with both traditional options like broiled sirloin tips, hand breaded boneless buffalo wings and more adventurous fare, plus seasonal favorites.

We started off with several appetizers to share, including those famous boneless buffalo wings, two different flatbreads and a strawberry blueberry chicken salad.

We were approaching full but moved on to sample a few entrees as well. We were all in the mood for seafood that night so we focused on the Summer Seasonal Menu and ordered two scallop dishes and lobster rolls to share. I had always thought of Ninety Nine as more of a burger/steak kind of place but their seafood was fresh and tasty. We will definitely be going back to try more. Even though we were all stuffed, when there’s a chocolate chip cookie skillet on the menu, you have to try it. A warm, gooey fresh baked chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce – the perfect ending to a delicious meal.

Though we were all kid-free for the evening, this group of mamas loved the dedicated children’s menu that would satisfy even my picky toddler (and that’s saying a lot!). Insider tip: Through the end of August 2018, kids eat free every Sunday at the Danbury location (with the purchase of an adult meal). We’ll see you there!
