Are you looking to take the family to a professional baseball game and hoping to stay in Connecticut? Look no further, as Connecticut is home to several minor league baseball teams that are alive and thriving after a brief COVID lull. Game times can be shorter, less expensive, and promise to keep the kid’s attention as you are closer to the players and the action. Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon this summer at one of Connecticut’s minor league fields, and let’s play ball with the Connecticut boys of summer.
The Hartford Yard Goats (formerly the New Britain Rock Cats) is a Double-A Minor Eastern League Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies MLB team. The team is named for the tractors that switch train cars between locomotives. This season’s opening day roster includes 15 newcomers and 13 returning players. Since the team’s inaugural season in 2016, the Yard Goats have produced 39 Major League players! The beloved Connecticut Cape Cod Classic returns to the Dunkin’ Donuts Park this year in July. College baseball games will also be returning this spring for the fifth season.
The New Britain Bees are a member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England and not a part of the MLB. There are four former Bees now in the MLB with the Dodgers, Red Sox, and Cardinals organizations. They host many fun promotional events throughout the season, and a fun-filled afternoon for kids is promised.
The Sea Unicorns are part of the Future Collegiate Baseball League of New England and were formerly the Connecticut Tigers and part of the Detroit Tigers organization. Baseball clinics are available in late June for grades 4-8, where all attendees receive instruction from active college coaches and players.
