Bringing Light to Your Season of Life :: Lauren Forehand Photography

What mama doesn’t love photos of their kiddos? I currently have 3,423 photos of my three children on my iPhone. They are all taken quickly (we know kids don’t sit still long) and the quality is not the best. But they do the trick!

However, I jumped at the chance to get professional photos taken by Fairfield County Moms Blog sponsor, Lauren Forehand Photography. I couldn’t wait for the chance to actually have photos taken of my family that would be worthy of hanging on the wall.

Lauren is an amazingly talented lifestyle photographer. She is Georgia born and spends half of the year living in Georgia and the other half in Connecticut; getting the best of both worlds. She’s a wife and a mama to the sweetest little girl.

Lauren loves natural light and airy black and white photographs. Through digital and film photography, she captures the natural, not just posed, moments to make meaningful portraits for any family. Her goal is to create classic styles that will last a lifetime and be passed down from generation to generation. She wants to capture her clients’ seasons of life.

My family met Lauren at Southport Beach, one of our most favorite places to go as a family. We met at 6:15 p.m. allowing just enough time before sunset. Lauren wanted to make sure the lighting was just right. On the night we met it was slightly hazy with a cool breeze and the tide was really low.

Introductions were made quickly and I attempted to get my kids to pose together, but not surprisingly it didn’t last long before they were off and running. It seemed that Lauren only had time to snap one shot, but somehow she captured them perfectly.

Lauren was extremely personable and encouraged me to let the kids explore as she snapped away. We took a walk along the rocks that jetty out into the Long Island Sound. Then they were off to explore the little tide pools and collect shells. We even found the largest blue crab stuck in the mucky sand.

The perfectionist in me worried that they would get dirty and wet, but after a few deep breaths and a hand squeeze from my husband I was able to relax and enjoy my family. We were able to run and play, and even splash through the water. But the best part of it was the laughter and excitement.

Lauren had an extremely fast turnaround time. The edited photographs were ready for me to view online within 48 hours. And let me tell you, when I saw the first of the finished photos, one of my three children standing on a small boat, tears came to my eyes. And then as I scrolled through the gallery each photograph was more beautiful than the next. Each photo was classic, real, and intimate.photography

This season of life has been hard. Being a working mom with three small children is hard. Our days are chaotic and loud, and often full of fighting, crying, and yelling, mixed in with lots of love and laughter. Lauren was able to capture it all. She was able to capture my big boys playful smirk, my daughter’s gorgeous curls and sassy smile, and my little guy’s sneaky and stern expressions. They will only be this little for so long, and I know someday I’m going to miss it. Lauren was able to freeze a few moments in time of pure joy and happiness with my family. I will forever have these photographs as the most beautiful reminder of the season of life I am in.
