Bridgeport Sound Tigers: Experience the Magic Together

When I learned that Fairfield County Moms Blog was partnering with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this season, I was pumped! Contributors get to attend a home game with their families? Yes, please! Within ten minutes of receiving the news (no exaggeration), I checked my calendar and booked a date!

Why was I so eager to attend a game? Let me count the ways.

1. The characters! I had already attended two games last season, Marvel Night and Princess Day. Seeing the dressed up characters entertained my big kids (then 3 and 5), but they really hit it off with Storm, the Sound Tiger’s friendly mascot. Each time they saw him, they excitedly shouted and waved. If they were close enough, they ran up for a hug or high five!

2. Ahhhhh, the convenience of it all! Webster Bank Arena is located right off of I-95. The affordably priced (bring cash) and large parking lot is a very short walk to the arena. The security and ticket lines to get into the arena move quickly, as do the lines for food and beer once you are inside.

3. The concession options satisfy everyone’s taste buds! An extra bonus: several of the vendors are Fairfield County-based eateries and breweries.

4. Every seat is a good seat with great views of the ice and the Jumbotron.

5. My daughter’s first grade class recently wrote letters to the players, so the cheering would be all the more personal. (It was extra special to hear that her assigned pen pal, Sebastian Aho, was one of the stars of the game we attended!).

6. The atmosphere is kid-friendly. Students sing the National Anthem. Groups of Cub Scouts and dance teams fill the rows. During intermissions, lucky kids ride the Zamboni as pop songs play.

7. I had a new fan to bring along. I’d seen other parents wear their babies in a carrier or sit them on their laps, and I was excited to do the same.

Creating Family Memories

This was my third Bridgeport Sound Tigers’ game, and it was the most magical. Although Mr. and Mrs. Claus were in attendance and passing out presents, the magic was not from them. It was watching the game through my children’s eyes. The baby who was mesmerized by all the lights, sounds, and action. The bigger kids who were asking their dad questions about power plays and clapping each time the Sound Tigers’ goalie blocked the puck. I look forward to going to many more Sound Tigers games, eager to experience the wonder of it all beside my family members.
