The Best Sunblock at Every Price Point

sunblock

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with sunblock. In my early years as a lifeguard, my top concern was to avoid a third-degree burn. Now, there are more serious health concerns to consider. Having pale Scandinavian skin and a dangerous family history of melanoma, there’s no room for error!

I’ve tried just about every sunscreen on the market and can tell you they are NOT all created equal. Below are my top picks at every price point. I’d love to take the guesswork out of your next trip to the drugstore!

Face

Steal: Olay Complete SPF 15

The best thing my mother ever taught me was to use this daily facial SPF starting at age 15. Sun damage is the leading cause of wrinkles, so my 38-year-old skin now thanks her!

Splurge: EltaMD UV Daily Facial Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 for Dry Skin

Only recently (at the request of my dermatologist) did I step up my facial SPF game. I wasn’t using a high enough SPF. I love this one by EltaMD because it is extra moisturizing and goes on smooth under my makeup.

Body

Steal: No-Ad Skincare Kids SPF 50

With two squirmy toddlers, spray sunblock is key. It makes applying sunscreen in the morning before camp much less stressful (and messy!) Both brands listed here leave no white cast and go on completely clear. Less rubbing and struggling with the kiddos!

Splurge: Supergoop! Antioxidant-Infused Sunscreen Mist with Vitamin C SPF 50

I have fallen in love with the brand Supergoop! Unlike other brands, it feels and smells invisible! I always stock up when I see a good sale!

Self Tanner (because, let’s be honest, I still want to look tan!)

Steal: Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer

Use this in place of your daily body lotion. It leaves the most natural-looking color!

Splurge: Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Water

These drops can be added to any facial or body lotion. A little goes a long way!
