A flower garden.Spring ahead has sprung! Connecticut has some of the most beautiful flower gardens in the Northeast. Visiting one is a great way to kick off spring, and a great spring break staycation activity with the littles and for the aspiring green thumb. Find everything from tulips to roses and take advantage of the extra daylight.

Below is a sprinkling of some of the state’s best flower farms to peruse.

Fairfield County

Colorblends House and Spring Garden in Bridgeport is a beautiful and intimate garden open to the public. Walk through their display of tulips, daffodils, and crocuses. It is the product of a collaboration between the Colorblends flower wholesaler of Bridgeport and garden designer Jacqueline van der Kloet. The garden sits on a restored historic mansion.

New Haven County

Wooster Square in New Haven is home to some of Connecticut’s most stunning cherry blossoms and hosts an annual cherry blossom celebration.

Hubbard Park in Meriden, CT. Hubbard Park hosts the annual Meriden Daffodil festival and is home to 600,000 spring daffodils annually each spring.

Lavender Pond Farm in Killingworth is home to over 10,000 lavender plants. This peaceful garden is one of the most tranquil and is home to the most lavender plants in the Northeast. They host yoga in the lavender fields classes in July and August.

Litchfield County

Wicked Tulips Flower Farm in Preston hosts the largest “pick your own” tulip events in New England and farm visits a few weeks each year in the spring. (Typically between late April and late May.) They even host yoga and movement classes amongst the tulips.

Elizabeth Park Rose Garden in West Hartford is credited as being the first municipal rose garden in the country with over 150 varieties of roses. This spectacular paradise has multiple gardens and blooms, from daffodils to crocuses to tulips.
