(Ellie and I earlier this summer at The Strawberry Festival in Orange, right before we headed to Milford’s Pirate Day)
We’re fast approaching my very favorite time of year here in CT. Late summer and early fall bring a beauty to Connecticut that’s both breathtaking and good for the soul. It’s also chockful of fairs in the area. My family and I look forward to all the arts and crafts, agricultural, food, and cultural fairs CT has to offer. Here’s a list of some being held in August and September:
8/3-8/4 – Norwalk – The 38th SoNo Arts Celebration – Admission is free, but you have to pay for parking.
8/4 – Walnut Beach, Milford – The 15th Arts and Crafts Festival – Admission is free.
8/8-8/10 – Ansonia – Festa! Italian Festival – Admission is free.
8/17 – Milford – The 39th Oyster Festival – Admission is free. Headliner this year: Blues Traveler. We’ve been to this oyster festival for several years, and it’s a lot of fun. There’s a big crowd, but everyone is friendly. Tip: a stroller lets you get through the crowds a little easier.
8/31-9/2 – Goshen – 101st Goshen Fair – Admission is $8 for adults; children 12 and under are free. I went to this fair for the first time last year, and I have to say, we had a blast. There’s going to be a Jimmy Buffett cover band this year. The food is delicious (try the clam chowder bread bowls), and there are some really great vendors. There are rides too. Bring extra cash. This one is worth the drive.
9/5-9/8 – North Haven- The 71st North Haven Fair – Admission is $10 for adults; children 12 and under are free.
9/6-9/8 – Danbury – 6th Connecticut Kids Closet – Admission is free.
9/6-9/8 – East Norwalk and Norwalk – 36th Seaport Oyster Festival – Admission is $5 on day one, $12 days two and three for adults; children 5-12 years old are $5
9/7-9/8 – Monroe – St. Peter’s Annual Apple Festival – Admission is free.
9/15 – Trumbull – 35th Annual Trumbull Arts Festival – Admission is free.
9/21-9/22 – Fairfield – 22nd Kiwanis Arts and Crafts Fair – Admission is free.
9/20-9/22 – Orange – Orange Country Fair – free admission on Friday evening; $7 adults, $5 seniors, children 15 and under are free Saturday and Sunday. We go to this one every year. There’s food, music, vendors, rides, animals, the works.
9/21-9/22 – Stamford – 13th Arts and Crafts on Bedford – Admission is free.
9/22 – Seymour – 48th Pumpkin Festival – Admission is free.
9/26-9/29 – Durham – 94th Durham Fair – Admission prices have not been set yet.
9/29 – Stratford – Harvest Festival on the Green – Admission is free.
