I think we can all agree that 2020 has been one for the history books. And not in a good way. Coronavirus and the devastation it has caused families, catastrophic fires in the west and in Australia, the tragic losses of the Bryant family, RBG and Chadwick Boseman (to name a few), widespread racial injustice, inhumane family separation, murder hornets… I won’t keep going. I’ll be the first to say I am READY for 2021.
The other day when I felt particularly bad about this year, I decided to sit down and make a list of the best parts of the year. And guess what? 2020 has been ROUGH, but it hasn’t been a total loss.
Here are some of my highlights of 2020:
- I celebrated my 5th wedding anniversary, and three kids later, plus a lockdown, I still really really like my husband.
- With business travel halted, the kids get to see their dad every day, and he can tuck them in every night.
- My twins turned 4. This year they learned to ride their bikes without training wheels and scale the monkey bars like old pros. They willingly started eating (some) veggies and are starting to recognize sight words. They also come downstairs in the morning without waking me up. A true milestone of parenting!
- My last baby turned 1. He said his first word (mama) and learned to walk and run.
- We paid off ALL my student loans!
